A proposal based on a single monthly total can miss the details that actually drive cost and workflow. A more useful review combines processing data with operational context.
Recent detailed statements
Gather enough detail to see volume, transaction count, card mix, interchange categories, processor charges and ancillary fees. A summary statement may not be sufficient.
Acceptance channels
Document in-person, keyed, ecommerce, mobile, recurring, invoice and ACH activity. Different channels create different requirements.
Business systems
List POS, gateway, ERP, CRM, accounting, billing and vertical software that touch the payment process.
Commercial-card exposure
For B2B environments, estimate the share of corporate, purchasing and government cards and whether invoice or line-item data is available.
Operational pain points
Note reconciliation work, reporting gaps, support issues, multi-location complexity, chargeback handling and anything staff routinely works around.
The strongest payment review combines the statement with the story behind the statement.
